Northcliff Road, Our Street

Our Street, Conisbrough

This image was painted directly from life on a street in my home villiage, Conisbrough in South Yorkshire. I have tried to suggest the charcter of the street, the weather and of course, the wonderful characters making their way in life. The figure in the dark coat and brown boots is the local allotment gardener who features lots in my paintings from this period. A key example image of this is ‘The Gardener’.

I like the warm colors from where the sun is touching things, like on the roofs. 🙂
